What.. When to go.. Where to go..

What are the differences when bareboating in Greece

  • The contract you will need to sign is issued by the Greek Ministry of Merchant Ships.  All companies -or individual yacht owners- who like to operate bareboat chartering are obliged to use this document.
  • All charters start at 17:00 hrs and end at 09:00 hrs
  • You will need a second person amongst your crew with sailing skills.  If this person does not have a valid sailing certificate, he should sign a statement where he/she verifies the sailing skills.
  • You will need to berth stern to (or bows to) in most of the harbours and marinas.  The shortage in berths does not permit mooring along the keys.
  • The Greek laws are limiting the size of boats allowed to bareboat in 65' for sailing yachts and 45' for motorboats.  Above this size you will need to hire a crewed vessel.
