Sailing Regatta

Sailing Regattas

Every year hundred's of regattas are organized all around the world from various organizations and sailing clubs and unions.

Yet, since this site is dedicated to yacht charterers I will present you regattas where an individual can participate -regardless of his sailing experience.  Usually an administrative fee is asked for participation in such events and that is all.

This short of regattas are usually organized from yachting clubs or charter companies who have chosen this method for promoting their company and operations, thus the fee for participation is considerably less than what it would be if it was a normal sailing cruise.

For the participants it is a very good opportunity to experience a regatta's excitements without really being sailing masters, neither spending a fortune for that.

   2007 Blue Horizon Cup

The Blue Horizon Cup was originally organized 8 years ago in Athens area, as an opportunity for Europe Yachts -who are the Bavaria representatives in Greece- to offer to journalists from various yachting magazines the chance to sail the latest Bavaria models.

The success of the event convinced Europe Yachts to continuously organize the BHC every single year since then.  Today, the BHC is a rally combining fun, pleasure, excitement and tourism, as during the regatta (5 days) the most cosmopolitan spots of the Ionian are visited.  The event is no longer a solely journalist fiesta, but anyone who likes to participate can do so.

The regatta will be from the 13th to the 20th of October 2007, starts from Corfu Island and includes one training day, 5 sailing days and one day for awards and trophies.  There is a set administrative fee of euros 285 for every participant and euros 40 for any crew member who would like to participate to the training course which will take place on Saturday the 13th of October.

The yachts you will sail with are the Bavaria models of various size and age.  The boats should carry full professional inventory (like life rafts and dingy) and lightening them by removing such items is not allowed.

   What to bring with you

No matter where your holiday destination may be, they have a number of things in common: the sun, the sea and the fact that you will need to live for the duration on a yacht. There are a few items you should not forget to take with you, as they will make your life on board easier and safer...
