Featured Article: Running aground
Despite all efforts to stay off shoals, beaches, or
rocks, groundings do happen. It is said that there are
only three kinds of skippers, those who have run
aground, those who will run aground, and those that have
but won't admit it. It is important that every boater be
prepared for such an event with knowledge of what to do
and the equipment with which to do it...

Dear Alexander,
Christmas approaching and most of us are thinking
- and planning- seasonal holidays. To those of you
who will sail -in the Caribbean and the Southern
areas of the planet, I wish "fair winds". For the
rest of us (I can't complain, as I did "play boats"
last month) it is a good time to plan our summer
holidays. Don't forget that the charter agents at
the
Boat Shows during Christmas are offering some
very good discounts for bookings made "on the spot".

Last month I did go sailing for one week,
together with some good friends from UK and
the winners of August prize -Ian and Uta
Binnie from Scotland. Our vessel was a Sun
odyssey 42,2 generously loaned to us by
Kavas Yachting (you may read a review of
this vessel in another section in this
issue). You may view the "log book" of our
pleasent sailing moments -some not so
pleasant too- by following the link below...

This month I have chosen to present you
the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42,2 -not only
because this is the boat on which I enjoyed
my holidays last month, but also because
this vessel is the smallest boat you can
charter offering a four cabin layout, a fact
that has made it very popular indeed amongst
the chartering community...

Ask me |
|
Don't forget when you plan your future
sailing vacation that you can
question me upon anything that might
concern you - I can help you to choose the
right vessel, suggest reliable boat owners
and/or agents in your chosen destination
country, propose a "special offer" and a lot
more.
I will be glad to reply and assist you,
wherever I possibly can. My 25 years
experience in the yacht chartering industry
is yours for the asking -and I ask for
nothing in return.

Tip of the month |

"Always drop the anchor while backing
slowly away from it. If you drop it while
moving forward, you'll tangle the anchor in
its own chain and it will never dig in."
