Featured Article: Your sailing holiday options
Many of you are confused - and have asked me - about
the different types of sailing holiday. What is a gulet
charter ? or what is the difference between "a skippered
bareboat" and "a crewed charter", when the vessel is of
the same type ?, etc. So here is a brief summary of them
all - I have also included the cost per day/per person
for each of the options available (average costs, of
course). You might find considerable differences in the
individual agency/boat owners price lists.

Dear Alexander,
It’s December and the holiday season is here,
which can only mean a few things – family
gatherings, good food, colder weather, and of
course, some gifts for you from your friends at
@lmiyachts.com
To start with, the first two of you who will
enter to our
Blog and post your name to the thread I've
opened for that reason, are offered a one week
sailing vacation -at zero cost. To make it even
better, each one of the winners can invite and bring
with a second person of his/her choice.

Web-torial
|
|
As it is customary for magazines to
include an "editorial" page these days, I've
decided to create a web page for the same
purpose :)
What was succesful on @lmiyachts.com site
during the passed year, or what didn't
worked really well (at least, as much as I
expected). Most important what you should
expect from the site in the months that will
follow.
A search facility, charter auctions, a
forum... and a lot more. Just click on the
"webtorial" link below to view them all...

Yacht charter discount coupons

Yet, another value-added service from
@lmiyachts.com Buy your coupon now, and
enjoy a significant discount tommorow, when
you are ready to search and find an agency
to book your holiday.
Your coupon will be valid for all the
participating agencies at the time you
will use it. Currently, you may view
agencies only for Greece, but I promise you
that very soon -within a month- several more
companies will decide to participate, mainly
for Greece, Turkey, Croatia and the
Caribbean.
It is reasonable that I expect to make
some money by selling my coupons (who
doesn't like that?), but the way I look at
it is that, the charter agencies will offer
you an extra discount -on top of their
"standard" discounts- and you will be able
to enjoy even cheaper sailing holidays (a
10% discount on an average 44' vessel exeeds
$700 in value)
@lmiyachts.com coupons (and the "value"
they represent) is my Christmas gift to you,
so, do not hesitate at all to get yours now
-even if you don't use it this year, you can
always use it at any time in the future, or
since they are "transferable", you can give
it as a gift to someone you love.

Adventure holidays
|
|
Recently, a friend of mine returned from
a cruise to Antarctica with Tauck company. I
know that this is not "exactly" a yacht
charter holiday, but since he never stops
talking about it and he succeeded in
"arousing" my interest for an alternative
adventure holiday, I recommend that you also
ask for their brochure. It will cost you
nothing and you will get an idea of the
options available for an adventure holiday
-beyond yacht chartering.

Tip of the month
|
|
When anchoring, keep in mind how far
away other boats are. A safe place to drop
your single bow anchor is several
boatlengths directly astern of another boat.
Never anchor where your rode crosses another
boat's when you are finally settled. If you
drag anchor, you will pull the other boat's
anchor loose.
