Approaching from the west
Hydra's harbour is easily spotted from the fortresses at the port's entrance.
Once inside, you may moor at the east (town's mole) or the west quay.
The anchor holding is medium and as the harbour is small and busy, is
very often an anchors "blending". In such a case you must
either dive yourself (4-5m depths) or call the ports' diver.
The harbour offers good protection from all winds except westerlies,
which are making an enormous swell in the harbour. In such a case the
only solution is to leave Hydra and sail to the Peloponnesian coast
across the channel, either to Ermioni or to Hydra Beach.
In the small picturesque town you can find many restaurants, tourist
shops -especially jewelers-, facilities and offers a cosmopolitan night
life. Definitely Hydra town is not a place to relax. |
