The gulf is on the east coast, a little to the south of Cape-Skinari; near
its' entrance is the islet of Agios Nikolaos with the ruins of the
monastery. One can approach either north or south of the islet.
The northern entrance requires care because of the shoals near the northern
coast of the islet and very near the coast of Zante just opposite.
The new quay (built in 2002) provides shelter from all weathers. Long
chain should be in use, as the waters are rather deep.
A fuel station, one super market and a couple of taverns is all 'n all you
will find here. Also, you may join the local caiques which are
exploring the blue caves at the north east of Zante. A visit with your
yacht is not advisable as the area is unprotected from north westerlies and
the waters are very deep to use your anchor. |
