Port Frikes is a tiny
-traditional Greek- village at the northern part of the island. It has
only 53 citizens but dew to it's touristy development supports 4
restaurants!!
As the wind blows
almost continually here (the island of Ithaca was called by the ancient
Greeks "island of Aeolos" -the god of the winds) it is better to
moor across the key, instead of using your anchor, which will probably
will not
hold your vessel during the night.
The village Stavros -supposed
to be Ulysses home town- is only 3 kms from here. |
