Merihas (Merikha) is a small harbour on the W coast and the ferry port of
Kythnos. The buildings of the town are conspicuous from seaward.
The port is situated around the three
sides of a small bay with a tree fringed
beach. Merihas has a small marina and a
few tavernas, rooms to let and a hotel. |
Go stern or bow-to the quay inside the ferry berth or
anchor off. The SW end of the quay is shallow and
yachts should go bow-to here with care. It's a good
shelter from the meltemi although strong gusts can be
most uncomfortable.
If you berth close to the ferry anchorage, careful
should be taken when the ferries leaving the harbour, as
their propeller tidal wave can push your vessel to the
quay.
