The small fish village Vourkari
lies on the NE arm of Livadi bay.
During the past years, Vourkari has
evolved to a tourist resort. Along the
coastal road are many tourist shops,
taverns and coffeehouses. Anchor
in the bay or go stern-to or bows-to the
quay in front of the tavernas. |
The bottom comes up quickly just before the quay and
consequently it is best to go bows-to if possible.
The port is rather deep (about 12 m. depth) so make sure
you have an adequate length of chain or line to let go.
The bottom is mud and weed and not everywhere good
holding. As the meltemi blows straight on to
the quay ensure your anchor is holding before tying up
to the quay.
Vourkari (together with Hydra) are the favourite
destination ports for Athenian yachtsmen. Better avoid
going there on the week-ends, as it is always boating
crowded and a berth on the quay is a rather valuable
privilege.
