Day
1
Kos Port -
arrival day After taking over your boat, depending on the time of your arrival, you
can visit the town, rest, go for a swim
or -time permitting- set sails.
Kos Town is cosmopolitan, has many
attractions and nightlife. If your
yacht is located in the Marina you will
need a taxi |
service to visit the town and return
Day 2
Pothia Port (Kalymnos
island - 17 nm)
A short leg so, you can "play boats"
sailing up' down for as long you wish.
East of Kalymnos (in the straight between
Kalymnos and Turkish coast) you will find mild
winds when, if you decide to sail West, you
should expect higher winds from N-NW direction.
Pothia Port (Kalymnos capital) is an attractive,
quiet little town, inhabited from sponge
fishermen.
Day 3
Lipsos
(Lipsos
island - 20 nm) The longest and most
demanding leg of this itinerary. It is
only 20nm but you will have to "beat" the
meltemi sailing against it. If that day it
blows from a N-NE direction you should sail W of
Kalymnos and Leros and enjoy the protection of
the islands, when, if it blows from NW you'd
rather sail E towards the Turkish coast.
Lipso's small village is attractive in a higgledy-piggledy
sort of way. A few tourists come here but mostly
the villagers derive a living from fishing and
agriculture.
