Mandraki
harbor was the main harbor of Rhodes for almost 2,500 years. On the left side you can see the entrance to the harbor and
the two deer, (it is believed that the Colossus of Rhodes
was standing there), a Rhodian symbol of strength and
wealth. Mandraki Harbour still remains very active,
with lots of sailboats, private yachts and small cruise
boats that offer trips around Rhodes and other nearby
islands.
Berth where directed or where convenient. The harbour
is hopelessly crowded in the summer, with yachts often two
or three out of the quay. Mandraki is now designated
as a marina, although as yet few additional facilities have
been introduced. yachts can also go on the pontoon on
the W side, just inside the entrance, if there is room
Good, all around shelter in the harbour. Numerous
boats winter afloat here. Fouled anchors are a common
occurrence, simply because there are so many yachts. A
large mooring chain, lying approximately 30m out of the
quay, is also easily fouled. |
