Kos Port and
Marina
Kos is a likable
mixture of medieval Frankish and Turkish
architecture with a few contribution of
Italian monumental. The fort and the
adjacent park, shaded by old spreading plane
trees (one of which is reputed to be that
which Hippocrates taught under) is quite one
of the most pleasant places to be on a hot
summer day.
Go stern-to or bows-to the new quay on
the E side. The bottom is mud -
excellent holding. With a strong
meltemi there is often uncomfortable surge
in the harbour, although shelter on the E
side is good.
Just under a mile SE of the old harbour a
new marina has been built, officially opened
on the 15th of May 2001. The Marina
berths 250 yachts, offers all the usual
marina facilities and was awarded with the
European "Blue Flag" in 2006.source & more info:
