The white cluster of the buildings of Myconos town is conspicuous from the distance. This is a very windy corner of the Aegean when the meltemi is blowing and there can be severe gusts in the vicinity of the harbour and a confused swell at the entrance. Yachts have been known to stay for weeks in Myconos rather than venture out into the howling meltemi.

Bert stern or bows-to the quay running SE from the N mole. The bottom in the harbour has a thick weed cover and plough type anchors do not always cut through at first. A second anchor is sometimes required. All of the N quay is used by ferries, so do not attempt to berth there.

Protection from the meltemi can only be described as adequate and indeed some consider the harbour dangerous.

Note. Ferries often tie-up overnight stern-to the ferry quay, just off the yacht berths. This effectively blocks some yachts in and they cannot leave until the ferry leaves in the morning.

The new marina to the N of Myconos town harbour (see the small photo), can now be in use by a yachtsman. It is approx. 2 km from the town and it offers absolute protection from the meltemi and all other weathers.

Connections

Ferry-boat connection to Athens and most of the Cycladic islands.
A road links Myconos port to all the islands' villages and beaches. There is also regular bus service to most of them.
Closest airport is Mykonos airport with regular internal Greek and some international flights.
