Sidenote The local agent is a term you will find in this site only, to distinct the agencies in the destination countries -which are usually "specialized" only in yacht chartering"- from the travel agent or tour operator you will find in your country.  The local agent is most probably the "representative" of the travel agent or tour operator and it is the one who intermediates between the travel agent and the boat owner.   A local agency has legal rights to sign contracts and book yachts -their own, or others.  Usually the local agencies own a small number of vessels (1-5) and mostly operating enjoying commissions from bookings on other people's yachts.  For this site a yacht owner, who owns more than 3 yachts, is considered to be a local agent.
