refreshing the page will bring up more boat charter agencies
The Sun Odyssey 51 was the first Jeanneau boat -designed by Bruce Farr- establishing the "long lived" Sun Odyssey series (today -in 2006- Jeanneau still has this series in production for sailing yachts ranging from 30 to 54 feet).

First, step aboard onto the transom platform. Two steps put you in the cockpit where twin wheels set well-outboard allow you to walk past the table into the main cabin.

Like most Farr designs this yacht sails well.  The helmsman's position is comfortable standing, sitting to leeward or sitting on the windward rail. The windward side is the most comfortable as the traditional coamings are simply a carefully angled side deck.

The shrouds and sheets are all swept slightly aft from the deck stepped mast, eliminating the need for running backstays. All lines such as halyards and vangs have been carefully routed under the deck. The only line on the weather side is the lazy genoa sheet, and that runs through a block on the inboard adjustable Harken track keeping it clear of the side deck. All the halyards are led aft underdeck to emerge from the aft side of the main sheet traveler support. From there they go to lockoffs at the forward end of the cockpit, and from there they are stowed in twin lockerwells on either side of the companionway. The overall appearance is one of clean, smooth shapes uncluttered by blocks, cleats and lines.

While this boat is a cruiser, it is a fast cruiser, and even with the rail down in the heavier gusts, it is totally under control. The well-balanced helm, with a partial skeg on the rudder, gives a feeling of total confidence even when slightly-experienced sailors are driving the boat.  Jeanneau's goal was to built a fast, comfortable boat." There is no doubt that they succeeded.

The teak-lined interior is open and airy with plenty of lockers and storage spaces. The unusual layout is a result of Andrew Winch Designs and has the large galley right in the middle of the boat. However, the space it occupies is almost unnoticeable because of the huge beam of the yacht. Directly across from the galley is a large comfortable dining area.

The Sun Odyssey 51 was offered in several layouts.  From the owner's version -with three cabins only (a huge "owner's" cabin in front), to the full charter version where the two front cabins are triple and the skipper's cabin is connected to the rest of the boat (instead of a hatch entrance on the deck), making her capable of carrying 12 guests.

The aft cabins (there are two) are, in reality, large double bunks with a changing space forward of them. This style of cabin layout has been popular in both France and the charter industry for many years.

This boat is old and Jeanneau kept her in production for two years only.  Therefore, it is listed on a few agents catalogues only, but if you can find one in good condition it is an excellent choice for the charterer.
