Sun Magic 44
A Daniel Andrieu design for Jeanneau in
1987, the Sun Magic 44 set the
standards all modern charter yachts are
built until today and started Jeanneau's Sun
Odyssey series which is still (2007) in
production.
Performances and handling
The Sun Magic 44 was designed by Daniel Andrieu with the aim of providing a
powerful, responsive yacht yet one which is stable at sea. The result is a good
sailing performance at all weather and directions. Boats equipped with the
deep fin (2,12m) keel are stunning.
All halyards, control lines and sheets are
lead aft to either side of the companionway,
where they are controlled by Lewmar
self-tailing winches placed behind a bank of
stoppers.
Accommodation
The yacht is proposed in two after-section
appointments. The
charter version with
two aft cabins (two cabins forward plus
saloon) and the
owner's version where a
large aft cabin going over the craft's
centreline and vast adjoining head with
double wash-basin unit (two cabins forward
plus saloon). |

In both cases, each of the forward and aft
"living areas" benefits from a separate
head. On looking into the Sun Magic
44's immense saloon, the visitor cannot fail
to appreciate the top flight finish of the
entire unit as well as the evident freshness
of approach in its conception. The
task of providing for the ventilation of the
Sun Magic 44 is carried off by 4 deck lights
and 4 portholes
The large head forward is the domain of the
forward cabins and features an inner-moulded
GRP figment appointment which appears to be
sculpted and features a totally protected
shower.
Charter price
The price you will need to pay for this boat
-€ 2.600 per week- is very good compared
with the same age yachts and excellent when
you compare with newer vessels.
