Sun Fizz 40
A Philippe Briand's design for Jeanneau in
1981, the Sun Fizz was the first boat
ever -below 12m.- offering a 2-aft
cabin layout. All the charter
yachts since then are built
following this design.
Performances and handling
Her sailing performances cannot
compare with other yachts -of more
traditional shape, like the First 42
of Beneteau- of this period, but the
Sun Fizz is a tough sailor capable
of sailing at all weather in
reasonable speed.
These days there were no rolling
mechanisms, so the boat is judged as
such. Yet, most of the vessels
were equipped later by their owners
-at least with a rolling genoa.
Most halyards, control lines and sheets are
lead aft to either side of the companionway,
where they are controlled by winches placed behind a bank of
stoppers.
Accommodation
Walking three steps down to the
saloon you will find
the galley on port side
and the
charts-table across.
Right next is the
dinette with folding
slides, so access to the forward
head and V-berth cabin is permitted.

unfortunate - combination of dark
mahogany with white melamine. The
later models are finished with just plain,
light, wood which gives much better look.
The starboard aft cabin has only a wc -which
is separated from the berth with a folding
door, when the port aft cabin has only a
sink and shower (again separated from a
door). Five more!! guests can sleep in
the saloon, but this yacht is comfortable
for a crew of six.
Charter price
The price you will need to pay for this boat
-€ 1.600 per week- is very good compared
with the same age yachts and excellent when
you compare with newer vessels.
