Olympic Sea 42

Olympic Sea 42 was built from the Greek firm Olympic Yachts, based on the Jeanneau model Sun Legende 41.  Although rather old in charter terms, this model was proven to be very successful and reliable, so today (2007) there are still more than ten yachts operating charters in Greece, when there is not a single one Sun Legende available.

Performances and handling
Although she is an exact copy of Sun Legende, the boat was built under the strict Greek laws resulting to a 2 tons heavier vessel (the extra weight is due to thicker GRP hull and the use of led for the keel -instead cast iron the French boat has).  The result is a boat which sails very well at all weather and courses.

The handling is easy as there are furling systems on both sails and all halyards, control lines and sheets are lead aft to either side of the companionway.

Accommodation
This boat was the first Greek built yacht with high standards in finishing details, similar to the French or German yachts.  Yet, the saloon compared to modern yachts looks old and "obsolete".

She can accommodate 6 guests in 3 double cabins -one V-berth forward and two double-bedded cabins aft.  There is one head with shower, just behind the forward cabin.  Aft cabins follow a peculiar system (first appeared in the Sun Fizz followed by the Sun Legende), where one cabin has only a sink and the other only a toilette.  Four more guests can sleep in the saloon, bringing the total accommodation to 10 guests!!!  (don't do it..  The boat is good enough for 6 only).

Charter price
The €2.050 price commended for a week's charter is very good compared with the same age and size yachts and excellent when you compare with newer vessels.
