The Ocean Star 51,1 was the first model designed
and built from the Greek firm Ocean Yachts SA back in 1999.
After two years, she was replaced from the 51,2 model which is in
production until today (2006).
The deck layout on the Ocean Star 51,1 offers a teak
covered sunbathing area , cockpits and extremely wide side decks as
well as hatches and fittings located prudently to ensure easy and
safe circulation on deck. Access to the deck is possible through an
enormous innovative stern (bathing platform ) that leads to totally
uncut side decks , as well to the cockpits configuration.
The large guest cockpit offers space for 8 people
around a standard table. The autonomous crew cockpit has twin
mechanical steering positions, direct access to all winches, and
functional process to the side decks by the stern, without annoying
the guests.
This boat is "big" by all means, thus her sailing performances are
not at the top of the category. Yet, the speed she can achieve
under sails is not bad at all. Her behaviour in the rough
Aegean Sea conditions, where the absence of "banging" when sailing
against the wind and the stability down-winds are exceptionally
good.
OCEAN STAR 51,1 offers luxurious
interior, which at first glance below deck, speaks for itself.
She is marvellous not only because of her spaciousness, but also
because of exceptional quality on the perfect finish of the
furnishing. Is the first time a Greek designed and built boat
has such a good finishing and detailed quality.
The standard galley consists of
refrigerator, freezer and gimballed gas oven - cooker. Light
and ventilation are excellent and ensured in saloon and cabins by
sufficient hatches and portholes. Numerous closets offers
sufficient storing spaces in every correct situated position.
The charter version offers four cabins/four heads plus a single
skipper’s cabin. This layout focuses on providing a greater number
of cabins to accommodate more crew and guests. There is plentiful
headroom which grants a spacious and luxurious interior with
generous stowage throughout. Ample hatches, portholes, and air vents
provide a bright, well ventilated interior.
When it comes to charter price it is one of the best you can find
for the category, bearing in mind that this boat can carry 10
passengers (the two front cabins can accommodate 3 guests, although
I do not recommend that) + a skipper's cabin. |
