Discovery 3000
|
The Discovery 3000 was designed from
Judel Frolic for Dromor Yachts and firstly
appear in 1986. In 1990, the factory
re-designed the transom and added a "sugar-scoop",
and renamed the model to Discovery 32
Plus. The new design stayed in
production (with small changes in the
finishing details) until 1993, when Dromor
ceased operations.
Performances and handling
This small yacht has remarkably good sailing
performances -like most of Dromor yachts-
even in heavy weather, although she is a bit
slow in light winds. Older models have
a tiller and the later a
hydraulic steering wheel.
Handling is not so easy, as there is no
furling main system and some operations
require to leave the cockpit. Also,
the hydraulic steering gives a little
"sense" of the boat and makes it difficult
manoeuvring in the harbours.
Accommodation
Walking down the steps, the
saloon is
bright and looks "obsolete" compared with
modern vessels of the same size. The
finishing details are poor and only the
latest models -built in '92 and '93- can
match their competition.
Charter price
The price of € 1.090 for a charter week is
of the lowest for the category.
Dromor Discovery 3000 was a great "hit"
in early '90's but today (2007) she looks a
bit "old". She is recommended only for
low budget charterers, provided that you
will find one to charter.
