Bavaria 42

 The Bavaria
42 was designed by Bavaria in 1999 and was
in production until 2002. Later it was replaced by the Bavaria
42c model.
With the charter market needs in mind the Bavaria designers offered
us precise that.. a boat that can accommodate the maximum
possible guests for her length, easy in handling, reasonable
sailing performances and low quality construction and materials
-which keeps the price of the boat low and results in an excellent
charter price.
Two wheels helm, in-mast furling main sail and
all the sheets and halyards controlled from the cock-pit the Bavaria
42 is an easy to handle boat. Her sailing performances -on all
kinds of winds- are in the average for her category.
The Bavaria 42
can accommodate up to 9 guests in 2 aft (double bedded) and two
front (one V-shape and one upper and lower banks) cabins, when one
more person can sleep in the saloon. At 42 feet she is one of
the smallest vessels offering
four cabins
layout and as one expects this reflects to the size of the
cabins. Personally I would prefer it with three cabins only of
sufficient dimensions.
The saloon -in light mahogany- is
bright and well ventilated. The dinette offers enough space
for 6-7 persons -but definitely is not big enough for nine, which is
the total capacity of the yacht.
Would I recommend this boat for charter? If you have a crew of
8-9 and you would like to sail as cheap as possible definitely yes.
At a charter price 15% - 20% less than a newer French or German
boat, a well maintained Bavaria 42 is one of the best choices a
charterer can get. Yet, if comfort stands high in your
requirements -regardless of costs- then you should better look for
another vessel. |
