Bavaria 40
|
This yacht was designed by J&J design in
2001 for Bavaria Yachts. She is one of
the largest
charter boats offering a three
cabins layout which makes her one of the
most comfortable boats for 6 guests in the
category.
Performances and handling
Her sailing performances are typical and she
sails well and in reasonable speed at
all directions. Much better
performances -especially against the wind-
have the boats with the deep fin keel type
(2,10m). Unfortunately, most of the
boats you will find to charter have the
swallow keel (1,65m) and some the 1,90m
version.
Handling is very easy, all halyards and
sheets are controlled from the cockpit and
there are furling systems on both sails.
The large wheel is
supported from a tower, where all
the navigational and engine instruments are
placed.
Accommodation
Walking down the steps, the saloon is
bright, large and well ventilated. The
galley is alongside starboard
facing the
large dinette across. The
forward,
V-berth- cabin has
its own head, when the two aft
cabins share another head next to the
galley. In general, there is plenty of
space for a party of six placing this boat
on the very top of her category.
Charter price
To complete the good icon, the € 2.250
charter price you will be asked to pay for a
week's holiday is one of the lowest at 40ft
yachts.
Bavaria certainly made a "hit" with this
model, building a vessel which sails well,
is easy to handle, offers remarkably good
accommodation and is very cheap to charter.
