Apollo 12 was designed in 1987
by Judel Frolic, for the Greek firm "Dromor Yachts". Soon this
model became one of the most popular charter boats in Greece.
Reasons for that was the attractive charter price, as well as the
unbeatable sailing performances of the vessel.
Performances and handling
Apollo 12 is sleek and low and sails
excellent at all weather and wind direction.
She can easily outmatch any modern French or
German charter boat. The handling
though is not as easy. Only few Apollos
have in-mast furling main sail and the
hydraulic steering wheel gives a very low
"feeling" of the boat when steering.
It also makes manoeuvring in the harbours a
difficult task.
Accommodation
The design and good sailing performances
have their cost. This is the size and
shape of the
cabins. They are all
small and much beyond the competition.
The dark mahogany in use and the low quality
in finishing details complete the very low
icon.
Charter price
You will find this boat in an excellent
charter price, much below other vessels of
the same size and age. Sailors all over the world still like
to charter an Apollo12 (in good condition of course), ignoring the
fact that the size of her cabins and the general comfortness she
offers does not match a newer vessel of the same size.
