The Cantiere Navale di Crotone born in 2001 from the union of Mr. Anselmo
Cavarretta, businessman of the city, and of Mr. Vincenzo Catarsi, founder of
Cantiere Navale Catarsi, a shipyard which in the ‘90s became well-know in the
shipbuilding sector for the production of « Calafuria » pleasure boats.
Nevertheless, the economic crisis which affected the nautical sector in the last
decade, the hard competition between shipyards and the lack of investors
weakened
the Cantiere Catarsi.
In the same period, Anselmo Cavarretta, persuaded by the European policy towards
the SME development in the Mediterranean area, chose the city of Crotone to
implement a new Shipyard and absorbed the activity of the Cantiere Navale
Catarsi.
Once the new status established, Mr. Cavarretta conveyed the supervision of the
Shipyard to the Blue Ship s.r.l. company owned by Mr. Pierluigi Balzano in the
beginning of 2007.
Thanks to an efficient and intense investment on the commercial domain, the
Cantiere Catarsi Marine realized in 5 years 32 sailing yachts for a Spanish
shipyard,
17 coast-guard boats for the Angolan government, 11 units of Terranova, 5 of
which
are nowadays under construction. Not so many Italian shipyards could count on
such building capacity in such a short-term period.
 Once secured the construction management, the Shipyard decided to widen the
activity on an international commercial network. The strong interest accorded by
Mr. Frederic Bouchara , well-known and estimated yacht broker since more than 20
years and specialized in Raffaelli, Ferretti and Versilcraft yacht sales,
matched the worldwide experience to the Italian taste and professionalism.
The association was established in 2005 under the name of “Panther Yachts
Group”, which was charged of producing and representing a yacht model series
shifting from 85’ up to 120’. Nowadays the Shipyard disposes of a work
surface of 32,000 sq.m including 7,500 sq.m of covered surface, allowing to
produce contemporarily 6 yachts per year.
The Shipyard can craft the integrality of the yacht elements by itself (except
engines and electronics) with 54 high-skilled workers. The company is proud to present her brand new
PANTHER YACHTS SERIES model, a great 95' SR semi-displacement motor yacht which will make her show debut in the next summer season 2007.
