Brief history
"Ag. Spiridon" was built in
the 70's in Greece, following the traditional Greek methods
on caique's building. Solid construction from hard
wood (oak tree), large open space on deck (relatively small under
deck), a strong 80 hp engine and a short mast are the
ingredients when building these boats.
The shape (sharp on both edges of the vessel
and quit wide in the middle of the boat), is the result of
the experience earned from building ships for the rough
conditions of the Aegean Sea the last 3.000 years.
"Agios Spiridon" was fully renovated on the
year 2.000 and since then she is berthed in Gouvia marina at Corfu. |
