Athens 1 week Saronic islands tour (relaxed)
On this weekly Saronic islands sailing tour from Athens (you
may start from
Alimos Marina, Lavrion or
Olympic Marine), you will be able to visit
all the adjacent islands of the
Saronic Gulf (Hydra, Spetses, Poros and Aegina).
The itinerary has a
easy difficulty,
allowing you a relaxed sailing in secluded
waters and safe harbours. You will visit five islands in six
sailing days, a total of 100 nm with an
average sailing distance of 16 nm every day.
This tour allows one resting day in the port
of your choice. All the suggested
harbours are safe at all weather. The
average winds you should expect during the summer months are
3-4 (in beaufort scale) NE - NW winds, dying in the
evenings. |
| Day
1 Alimos marina (arrival day) |
 |
|
Athens |
 |
 The main marina for charter
boats in Athens
is Alimos marina.
After delivering your vessel and time permitting you can pay a visit to
Athens town,
go for a swim or set sails.. |
| |
| Day 2 Athens - Poros town (28 nm) |
 |
|
Poros Island |
 |
Poros
covers a distance of 31,3 sq. Km., and population of 4,000 people. It is
situated 32 nautical miles from Piraeus. The town is built on two rocky
hills of a triangular islet that is called Spheria and it has been
characterized as a scheduled settlement. The houses, without any
specific architectural plan, are built one next to the other. |
| |
|
Day 3 Poros
- Spetses (24 nm) |
 |
|
Spetses Island |
 |
It
is the last of the Saronic Gulf islands, 53 nautical miles from Piraeus,
with a great history and the privilege of National recognition for its
vital role during the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire.
After stepping out onto the bustling harbour, you will find yourself in
a sea port of great beauty, immaculately restored and spotlessly clean.
The quayside is lined with excellent tavernas, bars and cafes and the
place has a generally cosmopolitan air. Take time to relax here and
watch island life go by whilst enjoying a drink or a meal. |
| |
| Day
4 Spetses
- Hydra town (12 nm) |
 |
|
Hydra Island |
 |
Hydra
is perhaps the most beautiful port village in all of Greece. A tiny
harbor ringed with cafes, restaurants and gold shops is surrounded by a
village of stone houses and villas that rise up the hills like an
amphitheatre. But one of the best things about Hydra is that there are
no cars. Everything is moved by donkey, including groceries, building
supplies, people and their luggage. |
| |
|
| Day
5 Hydra - Aegina
town (18 nm) |
 |
|
Aegina Island |
 |
The
island is full of life, as much from the locals as from the visitors and
the port of Aegina is still the second busiest port in Greece, after
Piraeus. Nevertheless, there
are still parts of the island that remain as wild and untamed as ever.
Those
who are really in love with the island refuse to forego the calm that
settles here after the visitors are gone. |
|
|
|
Day6 Aegina -
Alimos Marina (14 nm) |
 |
|
Athens |
 |

Regrettably, the last sailing day. The
trip ends back to Alimos Marina in Athens, where
time permitting a visit to Acropolis is a must. |
