2 weeks Greek Isles sailing itinerary
starting from Athens (basic
)

Sailing the Aegean Greek isles for two weeks (starting from Athens from
Alimos Marina, Lavrion or
Olympic Marine), you will be able to visit
the Cycladic islands Kea,
Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Paros and Myconos, as well as, the islands in the
Saronic Gulf (Hydra, Spetses, Poros and Aegina).
The itinerary has a
medium difficulty,
allowing you to visit twelve islands in 14
sailing days, a total of 317 nm with an
average sailing distance of 22 nm every day.
The southest port of the trip (Serifos island) is reached in
the 3rd day -the only long leg (54 nm) from
Spetses to Serifos, which -under the usual
weather conditions of the area- you should
complete in aprox. 8 hrs, with the north
wind blowing from your side. This
allows plenty of time for the return, sailing against the
usual NW wind (the "meltemi" blowing in the Aegean in the summer months.
This tour allows two resting days in the ports
of your choice. Most of the suggested
harbours are safe at all weather. |

WEEK ONE |
| Day 7
Parikia - Naousa
(10 nm) |
 |
|
Paros Island |
 |
Naoussa is one of the most
beautiful settlements on Paros with a population of 1,200. It is
situated 10 km north of Parikia and, because of its marvelous beach, it
shows a great touristic growth. The area has been inhabited since
antiquity. During the Byzantine period, there was a Byzantine
settlement, while in the 17th-18th century it began to flourish
financially. Nowadays, it is a picturesque settlement with narrow
pebbled streets, white houses, old mansions and remarkable
churches. |
| |
|
| Day 8
Naoussa - Myconos
port (22 nm) |
 |
|
Myconos Island |
 |
According
to tradition, the Island was named after Mykonos, the son of Apollo
Anios. Because of his father, the island of Mykonos was called "the
island of the light". Today the 3,000 inhabitants of Mykonos
are occupied with tourism, fishing and sailing, while some are occupied
with stock-breeding. The people of Mykonos are cheerful and hospitable.
They have become accustomed to the swarms of tourists in the summer and
have ensured the conditions necessary to help strangers have a good,
comfortable stay. The wild life and good manners of the locals have made
Mykonos one of the most famous and loved islands throughout the world. |
| |
|
|
Day 9 Myconos - Loutra (45 nm) |
 |
|
Kythnos Island |
 |
A small island known since ancient times from Aristotle's work "The
State of the Kythnians". It's harsh landscape is softened by dashes
of green provided by vineyards and fig trees. It has two harbours,
Loutra and Merihas, both sheltered anchorages. White cottages, churches
with frescoes and icons and the hospitality of the islanders combine to
make Kythnos popular with the visitors. |
| |
|
| Day
10 Loutra - Vourkari
(22 nm) |
 |
|
Kea Island |
 |
Vourkari
is a small, beautiful fishing village, situated 1.5 km from Korissia, the
island's capital. Its
architecture is very special, while all the tourist boats coming to Kea
anchor in its bay. The area's most significant sight is the small
peninsula of Agia Irini, in the north, where excavations cast light upon a
settlement from the Bronze Era. |
| |
|
| Day
11
Vourkari - Poros town (38 nm) |

|
|
Poros Island |
 |
Poros
covers a distance of 31,3 sq. Km., and population of 4,000 people. It is
situated 32 nautical miles from Piraeus. The town is built on two rocky
hills of a triangular islet that is called Spheria and it has been
characterized as a scheduled settlement. The houses, without any
specific architectural plan, are built one next to the other. |
|
|
| Day
12 Poros - Aegina
town (14 nm) |
 |
|
Aegina Island |
 |
The
island is full of life, as much from the locals as from the visitors and
the port of Aegina is still the second busiest port in Greece, after
Piraeus. Nevertheless, there
are still parts of the island that remain as wild and untamed as ever.
Those
who are really in love with the island refuse to forego the calm that
settles here after the visitors are gone. |
|
|
|
Day 13 Aegina -
Alimos Marina (14 nm) |
 |
|
Athens |
 |

Regrettably, the last sailing day. The
trip ends back to Alimos Marina in Athens, where
time permitting a visit to Acropolis is a must. |
