Corfu holidays 1 week sailing itinerary  basic

Corfu sailing holidaysOn this weekly sailing holiday from Corfu you will be able to visit the adjacent Ionian islands of Paxos and the ports in mainland (Epirus) of Mourtos (Sivota) and Parga.

The itinerary has a medium difficulty, allowing you to visit five Ports of Call in two Ionian islands and two ports of mainland Greece.  In 5 sailing days you will cover a total of 90 nm, an average sailing distance of 16 nm every day.

This tour allows one resting day at the port of your choice.  All the suggested harbours are safe at all weather.

Tip:  If you would like to add some more sailing fun you may alter days 3 and 4, i.e. from Lakka Bay to sail to Parga (instead of Port Gaios) and return to Gaios the next day.
Day 1  Gouvia marina - arrival day

        Corfu island

Corfu town
Your Corfu holiday starts at Gouvia Marina, which is the main Corfiot marine for visiting and charter boats, a
bout 15 minutes by taxi from Corfu airport (the fare is about euros 25).  After taking over your boat, depending on the time of your arrival, you can visit Corfu town (7 km. away), rest, go for a swim or set sails.  In the evening you will have your first dinner in one of the local taverns in Kontokali village, which is located right outside of Gouvia marina.

Day 2   Gouvia marina - Mourtos (Sivota) (24 nm)
Mourtos - Sivota
Mourtos is a small village on mainland Greece, hidden behind a group of tiny islands, called Sivota.  Mourtos has a beautiful boulevard and a number of terraces along with to stroll, take a cold drink and admire one of the most beautiful sunsets in the area.

Day 3  Sivota - Lakka Bay  (12 nm)

Paxos Island

Lakka - Paxos
From Sivota you will sail across to the picturesque bay of Lakka, on the north coast of Paxos island.  Approaching the entrance to the bay the waters are turquoise and a number of small white beaches surround you.  Most of the time during July/August the village is crowded and mooring on the small quay is difficult, but the bay is protected and secluded and there is anchoring room for everyone.   Going ashore with the dinghy has its own charm.  Coming back to the boat later, after a good dinner and a few drinks is a different story.  For sure unforgettable.

Day 4   Lakka Bay - Port Gaios (7 nm)
Gaios - Paxos
A relaxing day, as the distance between the ports is only 6 miles.  A good idea is to sail around the island.  The western coast has some nice caves to explore.  A visit to the famous sandy beach of Anti-Paxos is also an excellent idea to complete the day.  In the evening the cosmopolitan town of Gaios offers it's hospitality and night life.

Day 5    Port Gaios - Parga (12 nm)

Epirus (mainland Greece)

Parga
Next destination is the beautiful town of Parga.  It is a small, picturesque town with many attractions.  Parga has been built like an amphitheatre around the bay and is flanked by small inlets and coves, sandy beaches and islets off-shore with thickly wooded hills all around.  It is a perfect setting for a landscape artist.

 Day 6   Parga - Petriti  (16 nm)

Corfu island

Petriti
The return to the shores of Corfu starts with the authentic fishing village of Petriti.  You can watch the fishermen sailing out in the evening and returning the next morning with that night's catch.  Dinner at the local taverns is always accompanied with one -maybe two- glasses of ouzo, the local aperitif.

Day 7  Petriti - Gouvia marina  (18 nm)

Regrettably, the last sailing day of your Corfu holidays has come and you will sail back to Gouvia marina.  On the way there are many bays to stop for that  last lunch and swim in the Ionian Sea.
